Overseas students are required to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their visa in Australia. Medibank Private, which is a government managed private health fund, provides this health cover. OSHC will help you to pay for medical and hospital care you may need while studying in Australia. The premium covers the period of authorised stay in Australia. As a guide it costs around $275 per 12 months of stay.
OSHC helps you pay for:
You may choose any doctor you want. We can provide further details on request.
International Students must obtain a Student Visa before arriving in Australia. Once you have received your Confirmation of Enrolment form (For Visa issue) you are eligible to apply for a student visa.
Students and their dependants applying for student visas for the first time will not be automatically granted permission to work in Australia. Students and their dependants will only be able to apply for a visa with work rights after they arrive in Australia and the student has commenced their course of study. The charge is $50.
Students are limited to 20 hours work per week while their education provider is in session. They may work full time during other periods to supplemen their living expenses.

Thai Links suggests that intending students should look closely at the choice of education provider and course. Where there is a requirement to initially study English (say for 6 months) a student could opt to apply only for English and then make a more considered choice of education provider and course of study (together with an extension of the student visa) once in Australia.
Students are to notify their education provider of their address in Australia within 7 days of arrival and notify their education provider of any change of address within 7 days.
Student visa holders who break their work right conditions or do not have an attendance record of at least 80% will be subject to visa cancellation.
We can assist you in providing comprehensive support and assistance in meeting the various Australian Government requirements associated with studying in Australia including the issue of your student visa and advice on health and work issues.
